Props to the first person to figure out what's up.

Double die Reverse?

Yep, you guys are right. I'll unveil the grade later, probably tomorrow, feel free to guess away. :)

I see nobody bothered guessing...

Yes definitely a 1946 FS-801 good catch the last few to be sold at Teletrade and Heritage auctions sold for mid to low $800 range.......

Last two on HA.com in PCGS 64 went for $1,057 and $940. I plan to ask $950 and see what kind of offers I get. Not bad for $202.

I also bought a fairly worn one for $13 off ebay a few days back, just for the heck of it.

This is the info i came up with, I think HA is a little on the high side considering the consignment fees/buyers premium. I think thats whats accounting for the couple hundred dollars over Ebay and Teletrade but that being said one hell of a find to say the least good eyes. Most people get caught up searching half dollar boxes for silver and if thats your thing cool but requires a lot of work, I would rather cherry pick....

03/13 TT $881
02/13 HA $1,058
01/13 HA $940
12/11 EB $835
12/11 EB $829

The halves have been crap lately so I've been doing some picking and I've made more than I have made CRH'ing. lol.

Don't say that so loud, dont want to alert the CRH's.....:occasion14:

Just curious why pcgs didn't slab it a DDR? They shoulda caught that. Pretty sure you don't have to pay an extra fee if its a common (well known) variety.

You're correct, they screwed up. I have already contacted them and made arrangements to send it back and have it corrected.

Most of those fools (No offense to anybody who reads this) don't have the time, patience or knowledge to educate themselves about what a variety is let alone taking the time to go to coin shops, shows, browse sites to find 'em.

Just kidding...

I would've never spotted that. I always assume that PCGS knows their stuff, so I wouldn't have given it a second thought.
