Hello and Welcome,

This place rules when it comes to treasure hunting. Everyone is so helpfull and the information people give is a priceless treasure itself. My tip is try hunting after a rain the rain helps the signal travel easyer. So you can find those deep small silver and gold items. Make sure that you become a Charter Member right away this site is well worth it. I will soon and so should everyone else who reads this.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Welcome to the greatest addiction in the world.

welcome aboard! the only thing i could add to the already good advice you have recieved would be to hunt sites that have age to them.places that have had people around them for 100 or more years. you may have to sort through tons of trash but in the long run you will find some gems. also....go to the library and get some old topographical maps of your area from the old days (however old your town is). then go to the places on the map and compare where things are now and where they used to be. that is a great way to find old spots to hunt. good luck and dont forget to post your finds!..........oh yeah...........put your machine in all metal mode, crank up the sensativity as high as you can before it becomes unstable and SLOW DOWN!!

Excellent! Welcome and hope you find a fortune. Llearn that machine well and you will be rewarded. Monty

Been reading the posts for a while, decided to join. Been detecting for about 2 months...some wheats, no silver yet. I did find a 1945 P Jeff. Nickel.? I use? a BH Tracker IV. Any advise?

Claudius, Congrats! In actual reality, you did find your 1st silver coin. The 1945P was known as a "war nickel" and was identified by the large mint mark above the dome on the reverse. It is 35% silver, also was the 1st year for the Philadelphia mint thus the "P".
If you're finding nickels then U're doing it right. HH

I was going back through the finds of the day and came across your post again. On rereading it , it tickled my funny bone for some reason. With your user name Claudius Maximus and your post, "Yo", I could imagine Claudius walking up to Caesar and saying "Yo Caesar, whatsup"? :D Monty
