I've been having some great luck recently picking up large dollar coins at the banks. In the past month, I've purchased 33. They've all been clad with no proofs and no 1972 Variety II. My biggest surprise was finding a customer wrapped roll on June 1. Has anyone else been seeing more large dollar coins than usual?

I see a few here and there I dont know anything about them though so I never buy them

Some times a bank will have a cashe of them and I've only found 1 type 2. Never found more then 20$ at a bank.

I've actually been finding a lot more than usual. Got like ~$200 face the past 2 weeks, $150 at one bank, and $25 each at another 2 banks. No silver or anything interesting in them though.

That's up to you. I always ask for the large dollar coins hoping to find a silver Peace or Morgan in the mix. I've never done it, but I understand you can turn a profit selling Ikes on eBay or Craigslist.

Yea I usually see them and I would be able to see the silver and Im not into ebay, still I might start asking just incase they have them in the drawer

Found a roll of Ikes a month ago. Teller told me that she had them for a long time. I was hoping to get a silver coin but all clad. I did get a 72 Type 2. My first and only.

I just got 31 today and the tellers face he was so happy i wanted them. Ive gotten 106 in the last 3 months

The tellers tell me they hate getting them because they have nowhere to put them and is no fun to count every day. They tell my they can't give them away and usually hold them for extended periods of time when they get them in. I picked up 15 today.

I typically pick up 200+ a month, sometimes I find major caches ($250+... Biggest was $1200) that I will clear out, search and dump in a hurry. I typically keep anything MS63 or better, any T1 Bicentennials, '71-D FEV's, '72 T2's, and silver/proofs. I think I've probably searched through somewhere around $5k-$6k in dollars and pulled the following;

3 '71-D FEV's... All found together earlier this week actually, took me long enough to find one... Then to find 3 at once? :D
10 '72 T2's... A couple were together, most have been the lone keeper in a lot of $50-$100 worth. 3 are MS, the rest are XF-AU.
3 Morgans... All at the same time, along with a '72 T2 out of $5 a teller had... the other coin was a common '76 T2.
1 Peace... Mixed in with $120 in junk Ikes.
1 Silver Ike.... Mixed in with $80 in junk Ikes.

Tellers are usually thrilled to get rid of them. To answer the OP's question, I've been finding less lately, actually.

Prior to my finds this month, finding Ikes was successful perhaps one out of 15 inquiries, and then for only one or two at a time. I was typically told that the banks didn't get them very often, and that when Ikes came in, they were quickly snatched up. I don't know if my timing has just been better, or if perhaps the economy is causing stashes of Ikes to be spent.

Whenever I see Ikes I pick them up, because my Coin Dealer Pays 1.10 for each Ike.

I'd say I have 800+ of them in the last year or so, gonna put them on Ebay or CL when I hit $1000. I mainly ask for them for the hope of big dollars but so far no luck and no 40% Ikes.

I get CWRs fairly often on them, especially from one bank in particular.
