Went to a few banks yesterday

$125 in dimes
$10 nickels
$9 pennies
$7.50 in loose halves - $3 at bank 1 and $4.50 at another bank (where I dumped some other rolls of coins)
$2 in Ikes

of the $3 at bank 1, got 2 1965 40% and a 1951 Ben
at the other bank, all clad, but got this 2004S impaired proof.

The dimes and nickels were a skunk and in the pennies got a few common date wheats and some 15 canadian cents before 1978 including 2 King George VI (1942 and 1951) and 2 centennial cents of 1967.

I get the 40% silvers, but why would someone dump a Franklin?

And why wouldn't a teller recognize it?

Nice finds CJ9! Amazing how much you manage to find in small batches of halves.

I think people dump coins either because they don't know, or really what I think it is, they just don't care. Even if someone (a non collector) looks up the value of a Franklin, and they see they can get maybe $7 for it, they probably just say what the hell it isn't worth my time, and dump it.

I also think many tellers just don't care either. Younger ones especially IMO.

Stopped at another bank today

got a roll of halves - had a 1968-D 40% in the roll - rest were clad (see pic)

$25 in dimes, $8 in nickels and $5 in pennies were a skunk except for 3 common date wheats
