Yesterday's hunt - lots of buttons
I went back to the coin spill site again as I was eager to find more of those 2 reales and coppers, but couldn't get back in here due to all the hunters. Ended up hunting a small section of field across the street next to an early 1800s home. Immediately started finding flat buttons, and saw a lot of brick and pottery laying around too. I also saw signs that peanuts had been grown there in the last 2-3 years which is a great sign as that's the only crop around here where the ground gets significantly disturbed. I was pretty excited about this new hotspot as it seemed to be a clone of the first place I hit across the street that produced around 100 buttons of the same era. So maybe this is another early camp site. But my hunt got cut short as the farmer's son stopped by to tell me that I couldn't be in the fields any more until after hunting season ends on Jan 7. But I did ask about Sundays and he said that would be fine. So guess a little Sun afternoon hunting will have to do for the next few weeks. Here's a pic of my finds in about 90 min of hunting. That place is loaded with signals, but the electric fence, power lines and transformer made things a little difficult. Anyway, hope to have something interesting to post Sun evening.
