Yesterday's 2 fer return
This past week there has been an unusually huge amount of sand, hiding almost everything in the water. Even pulltabs and bottle caps are scarce. Yesterday morning I was out and as I approached the water's edge and was looking at my control box debating whether I should adjust my settings I catch an arm waving in my peripheral.
A young man asked if I was looking for "lost stuff" and I nod. He says his wife lost her wedding ring 2 days ago. He says it's a yellow gold band and provides the inscription and general area where she lost it. I searched the area with no luck and as I exited the water to go ask more specifics I get a nice little signal in the wet sand. Up comes the scoop and with the incoming waves I sluice out the sand. In the bottom of the scoop I see the small yellow circle. As I pull it from the scoop I see the inscription and also that it is a Cartier (750) with 3 diamonds. I hold the ring up and they are in shock not moving from the chairs they were sitting in. I yelled. Is it a Cartier? And they came running. She was so excited she was doing the happy dance and he was grateful saying oh let me buy you a drink, let me buy you a drink.
Like an after thought she asked me where I found it. I pointed to the area and she says "I lost another one too". I'm like what? She says well that one is not important this ones my wedding ring. I go back to the hole and swing the coil and about 12 inches to the left I get a whisper of a signal. 2 scoops and I see the second ring in the scoop. A sliver of 14K with very small diamond chips.
I hand it over to them and they were pretty tickled. He kept saying let me buy you a drink. I asked what do you mean buy me a drink? She says we'll buy you liquor, we'll buy you liquor! I said it's 7:30 in the morning and I have to go to work. I jumped back in the water to finish up my morning hunt and a few minutes later they came back to the waters edge to hand me a $50.00. I thank them and they thank me again.
Sorry for the ramble. Thanks for looking and good luck out there!
