I just knew there had to be silver in the ground!! I found this 1943 Merc in the side yard of my house. The little strip between the house and the driveway. I was on my knees and threw my hands up in the air and said Yee Haww!! My husband came out and asked me what? I told him I found my first silver in the yard. He was happy for me. Here is the picture.

Btw, I found it with my EXP II

HOLY COW, WHAT KIND OF MONSTER HAVE WE CREATED????????

Great job on your first silver! May there be many more to come. It might not be safe around there when you find your first gold. Good Luck!

Bob

Oh, it isn't my first silver. I have found 1 other merc and 2 rosies but none in my yard. I was so frustrated with my yard because I hadn't found any silver and I was sure it had to be there. But now I know. THat Merc is probably the only piece of silver there but I found it!!!

Congrats on your nice yard find!

HH

I have always just absolutely loved that pretty lady on that little shiny! That is my favorite coin to find......well, unless it is a key date of something else...but then there is always the elusive 16d!

Tim

Careful with cleaning that silver I see you found out it scratches real easy. :o Don't Field clean or clean with your Thumb :icon_thumright: On the field I bring a spray bottle or... I wait to wash them at home I just use falling water and a light rub with my fingers. This way you don't scratch the crap out of your coins....

Nice silver, I have been in a slump.... :D

Keep @ it and HH!! ;D

Happy dance time...CONGRATS!!!!

See if you can find a silver bezel that the dime will fit in, and a small silver chain, and make a necklace out of it. Then when you wear it you will always have a reminder of that first silver!!!!!

Way to go young lady. Congrats to you.
A Merc and IH are two of my favorite looking coins.
Now get out there & find a Barber next. ;D :icon_thumleft:

Isn't that silver purdy when it pops out. I have to say I admire your perseverance and you have now motivated me to go out and find some silver this afternoon. May your silver finds never get old.

Nice merc. Betcha there's more there. I found a silver rosie in my front yard last week. I been MD'ing my yard for two years now. ;D

It's always nice to find something good on your home turf.

Congrats on the merc.

I hope there is more there for you to find.

Ha, that's sweet. 8) I had hunted my yard for a couple years when I would get bored too, and was always hoping for one silver. Our house was built in 63, so it was almost a long shot. And after going over the front yard so many times I popped one out and it was like WHOA! lol I'm glad you snagged one! Keep up the fun hunts!
