I went to a yard sale yesterday and lucked up on a few things. I picked up the old ginger tin just because it was interesting...$1. I saw the butter knife, and thought it looked like silver. Looked at the back, and saw it was solid sterling. Got it for fifty cents. Then I saw two lockets for sale. Both looked like gold, unlike most of the other jewlery in the box. A lady grabbed a larger one with a diamond in the center before I could, but I grabbed this one and got it for $1. It is engraved, looks like gold, even under the loupe. Under the loupe you can see that it's been worn a lot, and is very well made, not like the cheaper jewlery. I can't find a single makers mark or any other mark on it though? I'm pretty sure it's gold...but I think I'm gonna take it to the pawn shop and have them test it to be sure. The silver tray turned out to be plated, but I only paid $1 for it. So, for $3.50, I think I made a pretty good deal. There's a lot more than that in silver just in the knife.
