Yard Yields More

Another wierd gorgeous day in the Northwest. All this nice weather kinda makes me nervous cause this is the Pacific NW and this isn't want Feb/Mar is suppose to look like!

Having said that I sure am taking advantage of it! It was back out into the yard to hunt some more.

At first I was only finding crap and one really large piece of metal that was too corroded to figure what it once was.

Then I found the following items:
4 pennies (2002, 1997, 1995, 1984)
1 dime (1982)
and 1 Jefferson Nickel (1943 the year my mom was born! I went to http://statequarters.20m.com/jn2.html but I can't figure what Nickel it is. I need to clean it off a bit more but I don't see any Letter like P, D etc on the front).

A 1 blade pocket knife that's too rusted to open :P

A fork that seems kinda old cause the tines don't look like what we have today.

After a little more time and one pull tab it was time to go back inside. There's still more yard to investigate and hopefully more things to find! Tomorrow I'll be getting batteries for my Digi Camera and post pictures.

Great! Now you're getting the coins! The '43 nickle should be silver. Look on the back, there should be a letter over the dome of the memorial. All of them I've seen had a P over it.

It's a 1943S :D 1943S $0.37 $0.51 $0.70 $1 $1.51 $3 $13.

It needs a good cleaning though.

Congrats sonja !

Hey SonjaMarie. I told you that you would get better & you're doing it. Great job & a nice nicke too. Just keep it up & you'll be ready for our outing this summer. Spotz

Spotz,

I can't wait! We need to figure out who all is coming and what day. And even if we strike out finding anything interesting we're bound to have fun!

I think we should start a topic for the get together.

Congratuliations Sonja Marie!! :D Just a little history lesson: from 1942 through 1945 the government minted nickels that were 35% silver so that they could have the copper/nickel for the war effort. Whenever you hear someone mention a war nickel, that's what they are referring to. I found a 1943 P myself several years ago but none since. Keep up the good work!

way to go sonja!thats the ether we all have been telling you about, you are getting it now you get
to the point wre you dig less junk you can move from the yard you can move to the beach or park areas and not waste to much time digging junk signals or lost/moving!you are getting the right stuff just stick with it and we are ALL right with you,so stop reading this and go dig something up!!!!EDD ;D

LOL!

It's 8:21pm and too dark to hunt tonight, but I hope to before I have to go to town tomorrow.
