I'm still working at gridding off the large front yard of my lunchtime farm spot. We're supposed to have snow here and cold weather over the next few days, so I figured I better get in a quick hunt today. I'm about 1/2 way done with going over the yard. Here are today's finds:

*A beautiful old 23mm button with a nice green patina. It has a "Best" back mark on it.
Anyone know the age of this one?

*A pocket knife

*A musket ball

*A shaved off piece of a 2 or 3 ringer

*An arrow tip?

*A 1950 Wheat.

Not a bad lunch, but I'm still hoping for a few more coins. ;)
Have a great w/end Folks,
MM

looks like that yard has been producing some neat stuff..love the button! keep them coming. im also dreading the winter weather thats coming our way.. :-\

Just based on what I've seen here it seems to be consistent with civilian buttons dating from 1825ish, give or take 20 years.

Joe,
Is that you or Kirk talking? I couldn't tell. ;D

Thanks Buddy. I went with the pumps this time. My heals were in the shop being repaired. ;)

Thanks Benz for that info. I have bought three different button books now, but they are military button books. I mainly find civilian buttons though, so I think I better buy Warren Tice's "Dating Buttons" book next. ;)
Thanks again,
MM

Nice going on the button and lead Doug....The arrow tip is just a field point that most likely had a cedar shaft.Wish all my yard work ended up like that.HH!!

Thanks Civil.
When I first dug it, the piece looked like an old bullet, but after I cleaned it up I could see the wood inside. :'( Oh, well.
No detecting for me this weekend, cold and snow is due in today. ;)
