It would have been more fun digging these, but I did find them at a yard sale. Bought a cigar box full of locks and keys for the huge sum of $3.00! After sorting and cleaning I ended up with:
43 skeleton keys
2 pocket watch keys
1 clock key
19 lock keys
5 car keys
1 hand cuff (?) key
28 house keys
42 flat keys
3 locks
2 key tags
The locks are: an Eagle General Purpose from C&NW RR; a solid brass Yale lock; and a P&P lock
Not bad for a $3.00 investment.

Thanks for looking
Jonnie

Thats really cool. Not bad at all for three bucks. Around what do you think the total set would be worth?

I have no idea the locks on ebay go for about $20.00 .We don't find many skeleton keys in F.L.

It sounds unusual, but I just finished my 21st yr metal detecting and I've never found a skeleton key. Other keys? I'm up to 7 pounds now (300?).

Nice yard sale finds! That last barrel key looks like a rail road switch key, if so your not allowed to sell RR switch keys on Ebay, they pulled mine. HH

why not? e-bay is getting worse and worse.ridiculous! :icon_scratch:

Does the RR switch key fit the RR lock?

I found a switch key by my towns old depot site a few years back but I'm still looking for my first RR lock.

Congrats on a great find for $3.

Got to love it.. Great find..

Great deal! Yard sales can yield some great finds sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

:icon_thumright: Thanks all ,as we say down here " even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a wile " :icon_thumleft: You are right about the RR stuff my dad was a scrap metal dealer and we couldn't even take RR spikes They would put signs up at the gate showing pic. of all the things you could not bring in.
Thanks again for all the comments :notworthy:

Ebay said the RR contacted them saying that it is possible some keys might still work, so hide you switch keys from the bad guys.

Jonnie, did you score or what? That was a GREAT buy! Congrats  Breezie

The inner circle of keys in pic.3 (I count 13) appear to be keys for locks in old furniture. The 2 locks on furniture I have take a key that look like that and have a small hole in the end opposite the handle. If I lost mine I'd give alot more than 3 bucks for one. Might check w/ furniture (antique) people. I looked for replacement (spare) from a local locksmith & he was no help. Cool buy.

Went out for a short hunt today and found a complete skeleton key...as soon as i dug it I thought about this post.

Can someone now post all the gold coins they purchased at a yard sale so I can go out and find one of them...lol.

Wish I could, I keep on drooling over all the artifacts you guys find in the north east the only way we can find anything old down here in F.L. is to have some one old bring it here.
