I was on my way to drop a flyer at a prospective spot today and found out they were having a yard sale before the property gets sold and bulldozed :'(
I hope my flyer and past phone call peaks some interest in family relic finds that will be returned to the homeowner, i`ll put the silver and gold in my underwear :o

I dug through some boxs and found a buck knife just like one i`d recently lost  and the neat brass whatch ma magnifying thingy for $1.00. Any ideas on this thing it`s hinged at 2 places with only one hinge left.

After that i left to do some real digging coplete with a palm blister and found the dirtiest 1935 dime i`ve ever seen.

Thanks for reading and looking.

Thanks big, i was trying to get the solved thumb up on there but mine turned out red.

I`m still not sure mine, pocket magnifier/ or a thread counter id by Island Hunter is correct, now that i`ve seen 2 similar items called different names.

Bigcypresshunter i thought it was weird that you were able to mark my post solved so quickly // twice//?

Are you a moderator?
Your info on how to mark solved was very helpfull.

Does anyone have the exact dimensions of the thread counter versus the finger print or pocket magnifier?
Inquiry minds want to know. (At least i do :icon_scratch:.)

I enjoy Mrs O`s and everyones 2 cents on this site or i wouldn`t even post here.

Here`s a side pic using a ruler.

No I am not a moderator. I dont know who marked your first post SOLVED. I only explain to you how to do it. I thought it was you. Any member may post their opinion as to it being solved or not. I see you still have a question mark. You are not convinced? You can remove the word SOLVED if you wish.
How many more pics do you need?

I enjoy Mrs. O's posts and everyone else's as well. I thought you were being satirical in post 13. This is getting weird. :D

In my opinion you've solved it... it's a pocket sized magnifyer used in any number of various professions and for many reasons...

It's small...
It magnifies...

The mystery is solved!

BigCy is no moderator... but he did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express once... :tongue3:

And I agree - Mrs. O is also one of the reasons I stayed at this site when I found it... awesome folks!

Thanks to all.

I just was really interested in this particular piece - it has to do with a childhood story (my childhood).

When I was quite young, I wanted a microscope - after my success at getting my parents to buy me a chemistry set (back in those days, you could conceivably blow something up :D), I really thought I could get them to buy me a microscope.

For 10 months - nothing. Then came Christmas, and I got a nicely wrapped box - just about the size of a very large microscope. I knew - ah-ha!!!

I started to unwrap the gift - inside the box, was another box, inside that, another box, and another, then another, then the last box. Inside the last box, was a well-wrapped object - about the size of a small microscope - still ok, it was a microscope. But, inside the wrap was a tin box, and inside the tin box, another wrapped item. After unwrapping the last one (tons of paper), out came this pocket magnifier. (already looking old).

Congratulations, said my dad, we got you a beginners microscope!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have it. ;D ;D
