A couple of my prized pieces: From a central Texas yard sale this past summer at a ranch just south of Bastrop, Texas. They were cleaning out a great grandfather's long-stored stuff. I was the first one there that morning and couldn't believe my eyes or the prices! The pistol is an old cap-and-ball Remington from the Civil War era, and the horn, literally a horn and not a powder horn, is carved with the name "H.C. Cooke," and I assume to be a date, "8.1.17." Unfortunately, the family knew no details of either item. I contactedd the local historical folks, but they were not able to trace the name.
