Went out into my yard the hunt for about 10 min earlier today. Found a clad penny. Here is why i love clad so much...

RULES OF CLAD

1. For every clad dime you find, you can buy a wheat penny which is like finding one.

2. For every 2 clad quarters you find you can buy a silver war nickle.

3. For every dollar in clad you find you can buy a silver dime.

4. For every $2.50 in clad you find you can buy a silver quarter.

5. For every 2 dollars in clad you find you can buy a 40% silver half.

6. For every 5 dollars in clad you find you can buy a circulated 90% silver kenedy, franklin, or even a walker.

7. For every 10 dollars in clad you can buy a silver dollar.

8. I found 2 dollars in clad the other day which is like finding 20 wheats, or 2 mercury dimes, or 4 silver war nickles.

Re: Yard hunt

Good thinking.. One day you will be a CEO of a big company if you continue to think that way...... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
How old are you? ???

Re: Yard hunt

Good post CC!

You have the right attitude toward all of this. You make the best out of what's available.

Not everyone has the time or inclination to travel to super old sites basically untouched by other THers.

Good job!

Re: Yard hunt

start relic hunting, it's also fun, and give it more than ten minutes...........i know time is hard to come by, research is also just as fun.........i kind of like clad.......all i want is old coins, or other trinkets, i just spend my clad on more batteries, and a cool refreshing drink after a hunt....i love the reaction of spending dirty money.....HAHA!!!...being in the great outdoors, and thanking god for every spare minute he gives me........remember all that we find we can't take with us in the end.....

Re: Yard hunt

Why is it that as I get older I don't think of things such as this, although the find is much better.

Good thinking though.

Re: Yard hunt

Hmmm..... 10 cents a wheat penny? I will GLADLY sell every wheat I own at 10 cents a pop ;) haha...

If you shop around you should be able to get rolls of wheats (50 coins) for about $2 or less if you are a really good shopper. On eBay I think they average about 5 cents each when you buy them in any bulk, but eBay is higher than retail on them.

If you check your local antique malls you might be able to find circulated silver coins for less. I know when silver was at about $15 our local antique mall still had some halves priced at $4 each. :)

I also must ask where you are buying your silver war nickels at 50 cents each? As for Friday their current silver value was 65 cents each. Sounds like a good buy at 50 cents each!

Sounds like a good investment to me CC! Make sure you shop around.

You're a smart cookie! ;)

Ok, maybe for every clad dime you get 2 wheat pennies... :D

As for the silver war nickles a shop in NY city was selling a roll of 40 for $20.00. So, 50 cents each. And this was a few weeks ago when silver was 15 dollars an ounce.

I use my clad to buy old telephones. I just won a 1930's phone on ebay for $70.00. I have that much in clad since spring.

sorry i cannot count past 5 and if go outside the backyard you could find a gold coin congrat you clever cookie and happy hunting

tinpan what comes after 5 not 6 ,beer

CC, if you continue to roll search and metal detect at the rate you are now you will have an outstanding collection when you get older. You are doing very well at such a young age. I like you kid!! ;D Keep hunting and buying up those old coins!
