With last week's snow nearly melted, I squeezed in a short hunt yesterday before it started snowing again. I had hope of hitting some open fields but too much mud so I ended up at a small playground. Dug a bit of clad, and then this unusual, and ah, highly pornographic pendent of a anatomically correct monkey/demon creature astride a portion of the male anatomy. I have cropped the picture so I don't offend any readers. Rang as silver on my Exterra, but judging from the pinkish color, is just silver plated and a weighs ahefty 13 grams. I suspect it is a Thai piece based on the bail, which looks like the kind of bail on Thai Baht jewelry. I love this hobby, you never know what you are going to find.

And for those of you who may be feeling the heat in your portion of the country, I am also attaching a picture of what I found in my backyard this morning . Should be melted by this weekend, so I am trying to enjoy its beauty.

The symbolic phallus has been used for thousands of years as a way to ward off evil spirits, jealousy, etc. Very interesting item.

Susan do you ever go over to Brenner Minnesota and look for lake Superior agates that got deposited there by the glacier that help cut out the great lakes
when the farmers plow they get brought up ...look also in the Glacial till, and rivers running threw fields ...

Yes, Whatifind, found it just off the playground equipment area, buried a few inches down. But there is a large soccer field close by where the grown ups play. Couldn't see what it was because of mud till I got to the car, then I had a good laugh.

Liftloop, I've never been to Brenner, but as a kid we made regular trips up north to hunt agates around the Lake Superior area. I have some beautiful, very large ones somewhere in my moms basement. And the rock hound part of you doesn't go away. While I was trying to hunt yesterday in the newly plowed field, I was finding some nice small ones which went into my pouch. This field is an old industrial complex from the 1900s that the city cleared and landscaped last year. The little bit I was able to hunt before my shoes got too heavy with mud had bits of bottles, bricks and rocks, so even if I don't find old coins I am expecting to find other interesting bits.

sound like a fun spot
good luck
