Well after alot of looking, research, talking to other owners, and such. The winner and soon to be new resident in my house is........

X-Terra 50.....

Good choice 50 should be much better than fisher f5. Also you have several coil frequencies better depth.

good luck, after about 40 hrs on my new xterra 50, I can say its a great relic hunter, good on copper and generally sucks on deepr silver, wish it weren't so , I encourage you to do a lot of yard tests w/buried coins, so you know what to expect.

To bad you didn't consider the X-70(5). With the 3KHz coil it is a killer on silver. Good Luck

The F-5 is a great all around detector and it is a deepseeker to boot. It also loves deep silver and gold which is rare in the same unit. Fully adjustable and lightning fast response time( its the best detector bar none in its price range) and I've used them all. I wish I had seen this post earlier.

XTerra Monotone mode?

I imagine they are quite comparable. I've only used the F5, but in general I like it because all the controls are right in front of you instead of using a menu style interface.

I'm curious if the XTerras when you put them in monotone mode, do they give you VCO, or give you a nice informative Tesoro-like beeps?

I have an xterra 305 wich is pretty much an xterra 50 and have found a silver ring the other day stamped 925 on it The xterras like rings and silver.
