I've been a tesoro user for a while now, but would like to try a TID machine. Played with a ace 250 before but wanted to try something else(better). Is there much benefit to getting the 70 over the 50 besides the extra coil option, the increased notch increments, and more resolution in the ID numbers. How good are the tones, I have a Golden umax for a tone machine now, are the tones any better on the 50 or 70. Thanks

If you can afford it, get the 70. Auto tracking, and beach mode are handy. Also the prospecting mode is a very valuable tool to me and I have never looked for nuggets. I am a coin hunter primarily

I had the xterra 70 and a xterra 305 wich is basically an xterra 50 for less money. I liked the xterra 305 better. It ids a bit better than the 70 and the speaker is a bit louder easyer to hear targets. Plus its half the Price

I don't know anything about the 305, being an old tesora guy myself, and i too was wanting an id machine. i shopped alot of machines most of them were owned by friends of mine so i got to use them. I picked the 70 over alot of high end models. If you think the speaker is not loud enough, since i have been mding i ve never used a machine without headphones. i want to hear all of the tones even the weak ones. i personall use the goldpro's. i have had a lot of success with my detector. But talk to other mder's in your area find out what they are using and make your decision by watching what they are finding and how often they find stuff. Good luck
