So finally got Cru'dad off his old knackered Cortes & onto my spare XP GMP. (this is his 2 day on it) I'm hoping that this will improve our stats this year. I remember changing from a Cortes to the XP & our yearly hammered count went from low 20s, into 108!
Many of our options are still very wet ankle breakers but this option came in just right. It's a drilled Spring Wheat after a 9 inch turn. They just made the weather window but it was too wet too roll, not that it bothers me.:metaldetector:
We did 5 hours hunting in nice weather & pretty sticky conditions;

49 Roman Bronze Coins (Best 1 day total this year by over double)8-)
Piece of a Roman Spoon
Medieval Key
Half a Roman Military Buckle (Late Roman)
A nice Roman Mount (Type I've not seen)8-)
Roman Silver Ant. of Gallienus (Don't get many of him in silver):icon_thumright:
Hammered Penny of Ed I

In the whole of the first year, which was our best yearly total from this field, we only had 30, so this years total is going to beat all the other years added up, in just 3 trips!

That was well worth the muddy boots! How did Crudad with the GMP?

Much better than usual, probably increased his finds by 20%.

I think I'd roll through the mud to each target for a day like that.

We detect every type of condition, but these do slow you down. ie. a 5 hour day feels like a normal 8 hour trip. I can't even be bothered to go down the Pub tonight...lol

Really good showing of finds Cru. Liking the silvers especially the spiked hairdo-very cool.

Congratualtions on the nice finds and surviving the 5 hours of mud! :occasion14:

And that after just a couple outings. I guess he's happy now!
Not yet, as its a bit noisy. Remember this detector picks up aircraft!

Nice finds Crusader, and Cru-dad. Its pretty messy getting finds out of the mud sometimes, especially when you need to scratch your nose!

Looks like they’ve been in the ground a long time and you brought them back life. Nice haul. Congrats!

Y'all find some great stuff over there that's for sure! I'm amazed at a 17th or 18th century find here while you all routinely find relics and coins BC.

Nearly right, but we find very little BC stuff, thats actually pretty rare for us. Maybe only 3-5 Roman Coins, & about 6 Celtic.

It's digging a deep hole with more mud on your spade than the hole that is a pain, as well as the excess on your boots. Which as you know means trying to get the mud off the spade puts more on from your boots.

Both of us lost finds on our spades for awhile.

You and Cru-dads powers grow by the day. Looks like complete field domination! Nice work

We only left behind some nails & the deep big iron because it was too hard work to dig & we didn't want to knacker ourselves out on rubbish.

Super day.:occasion14: Congrats

I've still got the Gold Max Cru, a great machine.:icon_thumright:
Yeap, it really opened my mind about what a real detector could do to your find rate.
