XLT Question

For all my White's-using brethren out there, just a quick question. I've been poring over manuals and sites and videos and looking through all the various programs that are posted here and there for the XLT, and I was wondering something. Most signals you want to dig are showing up on the signa-graph chart and a good soild bar or perhaps two fairly tall bars next to each other. Say I wasn't too concerned with how long it took to hunt a certain area. If I chose the relics program and upped all the sensitivities and pre-amp gain to the highest levels while keeping the machine balanced and dug the targets that gave the best graph readings, would the machine work correctly? Would it give great depth or would this just result in the detector overloading and not giving correct readings at all? Just curious, thanks!
