funny thing is there is no uninstall unless i use the folder int he start menu. But the most strange thing is the install location but there is no way to change the install location.

C:\Users\altered\AppData\Roaming\XChange2\XChange2.exe -d'.\' -n'mldata' -r

Not that this will solve your problem, but I am running XChange2 on Windows 10. Hope you find a fix...

I have no idea at this point. I have removed and installed a lot now haha. i am showing that i the administrator have full control and full right to all files in the folder so not sure why i still get the permissions issue. I ahve also looked and there are not software group polocies on this laptop.

Xchange2 is not really compatible with windows 10, well really it is windows 10 that is not compatible.... Windows 10 sucks.. Some are able to get it to work, others can't...

Yeah i read that and it pains me lol... You would think Minelab would get with the times so that people that are spending thousands on detectors are not then ahving to spend more on laptops or desktops lol

It isn't minelab its Microsoft, Windows 10 SUCKS! Do a search on reviews for Windows 10.

We have windows 10 on over a 1000 computers and have less issues than we did with 7 or 8.

And again, do a google search on Windows 10 sucks, Windows 7 was ok, 8 sucked as does 10.......

XChange2 works on XP and 7, I never tried it on 8. Its Microsoft's job to make an OS system function on existing programs, not everyone else's job to rewrite all their software to make their software compatible with a new OS..

So....just made a few program adjustments and hooked up the CTX to download the changes. Keep in mind, I have been accessing the XChange2 program on my Laptop with Windows 10 installed since I purchased it. Well, now all I get when I connect the CTX to the Laptop is this message. "USB Device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". WTF!!!

Problem solved. The Minelab USB Cable is defective. Hooked up an old ATT USB Cable and we're back in business...

My desktop works much better with windows 10 than it did with 8. That said, sometimes when i get an automatic update, it throws the computer into a tizzy, shutting off my LAN and flipping switches on various settings. Drives me nuts! :censored:

The install location is the problem. They need to change this software so that users can switch. Many times you are blocked out of the AppData folder and get that error. I was only able to install by right clicking on the install file and choosing run as administrator. Otherwise I got that same error on 3 different machines all running windown 7, 8, and 10

When I use it (on my Windows 10 machine) I do need to disable my antivirus for it to run. Other than that, works for me.

But Windows does suck...

I am having similar issues with Windows 10. I have had the CTX 3030 for about a month and used Xchange 2 with no incident. Yesterday the program shut off seconds after it started up. When I try to reload I am getting the message "short cut has been moved or changed." I'll try the CCleaner program.
