If the tone you are getting in a Pattern mode is "chirpy" and short, the problem is not likely audio response of the good target. It is more likely caused by an adjacent target that is set to reject by your Pattern. When the good target beeps, and your sweep continues, the rejected target blanks out (over rides the audio response) from the good target and it makes it sound like a chirp. I have two suggestions..... one is to slow down your sweep so that the good targets "have more time" to respond without being blanked out by an adjacent target. Another suggestion would be to run all metal with multiple tones and learn what the good stuff sounds like. (consistent signal). Instead of blanking out the signal of the good stuff, you will hear the tones provided by each target. JMHO HH Randy

The manual also mentions that sensitivity setting can affect width of signal.

I tried various sensitivity settings on a clad dime planted 5" deep. At sensitivity 16, it was weak & narrow, turned up sensitivity & it got louder & wider.

Deeper coins it seems may also give a broken signal, like several small beeps in a row. This may be caused by my ground minerals? HH, George (MN)

I agree slow down your sweep speed, you'll be amazed how that will help
