Can i get some pros and cons on both of them im looking o get the 505 but then i saw the 705 it cost a little bit more and i was wondering if it was worth spending that much more or if i should stick with the 505 im strictly a relic/coin hunter

If you prospect for gold or hunt at night, the 705 would be the better choice. The 705 has a couple added features, such as a backlit display, tracking gb and target stability, but the 505 & 705 are about the same performance wise. I rarely prospect and never hunt at night, so I went the 505 and I really love it. Great depth and very versatile. Ive had mine for 1 year now & I dont feel I'm missing anything by not getting the 705. HH & Good Luck! Scott

With GB Tracking, Tracking Offset, Beach Tracking, Prospector Mode, two Pinpoint modes, a back light, and the discrimination/ID segments/tones being 28 instead of 19, the 705 is a fair amount more versatile.
That said, they are both very capable machines, and you wouldn't go wrong with either one.

For the 505 i know has the all metal mode but when u scan over a target in a discrimination mode does it make a ding ding sound like the ace 250 or does it make like a long tone sound like the e-trac

I would spend the extra for the 705 or maybe find a used Explorer. You might also check into a Quattro. Are they still available new?

It is a tone (more like a beep), not the 'bell' sound of the Ace. You can choose between 1,2,3,4 or 19 tones. My buddy has a 705 and we both find the same things at the same depths. 19 tones vs 28 is not a huge issue to me. Many choose to hunt 4 tones anyway. Regardless the 505 and 705 still have more tone options than any detectors in their respective price ranges. Check out some of Marks finds in this forum. He uses a 505 and has found some awesome stuff with it!

Do u know anything about a minelab explorer

Do u know anything about a minelab explorer

I know the Explorer needs to be swung a bit slower and is more complex and heavier than the X-Terra's. The Explorer uses fbs technology which utilizes multiple frequencies. The X-Terra uses V-Flex which depends on coil choice to select the desired frequency. The Explorer definitely has a steeper learning curve from all the info I have read. As Longhair says, one technology isn't necessarily better than the other, they compliment each other. The XT can sometimes work better than the Explorer in heavy iron infested sites, again this is only from what I have researched, not from personal experience.
