Headed off to a local elementary school today. I found this very nice United States Navy lapel pin. It is an E award for production. From what I have been able to find these awards were issued between 1942 and 1945 for companies with the highest production levels during WWII. Most likely it was given to an employee of the Kaiser shipyards here in Portland.

Next to it (for size) is an 1964D Roosevelt dime which I also found today.

Thanks for looking.

Nice find, Congrats on the pin. It's really nice....

Cool find!! I love any thing from the WWII era. I've found some medals and dog tags around here!!HH Bighead

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. What made it even more enjoyable is that the guys who took me to this particular school had been there the previous weekend as well. They told me not to bother with the area where I found the pin because they had already done it. Well being stubborn I figured they might of missed something, and sure enough I dug the pin about 2 feet from another hole one of them had retrieved a target from the previous week.

how much you want for it?

I've got to at least keep it until the end of the month when we have our show and tell at the monthly meeting. If you're really interested PM me an offer.

David - I heard though that you got another barber dime just before the cold weather struck.

Under the street at the faigrounds, had to break away some asphalt to get it.
