Jeez !

I have been out alot recently :) :) :) :)

Suffice it to say that this will be the last post from me showing finds for a while as the wife is on the verge of divorcing me as i have been relic hunting so often just recently !

Anyways, here is the results of a days MDing at a WW2 gunnery range i have previously posted about. I still think no-one else knows about it given the volume of finds I am getting on EVERY visit.

No pics of the digging in action i am afraid. The area is all sand dunes and pics of the digging wouldn't really show anything except a big heap of sand :D :D :D

Ok....here is everything I found on the day before any cleaning

And here it all is again cleaned, sorted and identified...

Now for some close ups of the finds.

Firstly the 303 cartridges. All dated prior to 1944.

An example of some of the headstamps, (I know what they all mean guys so no need to identify them for me :D :D ), with a 'normal' firing pin mark.

Now here is where you may be able to help. If they are 'normal' firing pin marks, what on earth makes these marks ? Bren ?

Some of the 303's were rather older than expected !

....and despite the fact I have become somewhat of an expert on headstamps, this one continues to baffle me !!! Can anyone identify the maker ?

Bits of grenade all over the place....

....and a close up of the base and top nuts .....

Spent bullets 303, 9mm and 45 cal.....

Along with 9mm cartridges.....32 in one hole....the whole of a sten gun magazine !!

And finally some odds and ends.......One of the items is the remains of a 2 inch mortar fin...can anyone help with the rest ?

Anyway...time for me to go. Hope you like the finds and can help me with identification. Gotta go now as tea is ready and i am already in the bad books !!!

WISH ME LUCK ! :o :o :o ::) ::) ::)

Digging up shell casings/ bullets is #3 on my list of things I like to dig up, behind coins and jewelry of course.

You are a lucky man. Nice finds
