WW2 50 CAL shells

Dug these a few weeks back and didnt think much of it. The are marked CAL 50 FA 39 and FA 35. Does this mean 1939 and 1935? They were dug inland VA Beach and not near any military installation. Was told that they probably came off a "Civil Air Patrol" plane during or prior to WW2. Most likely on a training mission flying over VA Beach. Interesting was that the CAP primary mission was to guard US coasts from the threat of German U boats.

Yes, they are Frankford Arsenal 50 Caliber Machine Gun cases from 1935 and 1939

Remote beaches were prime practice areas in the 30'/40's. We used to find hundreds of bullets and cases detecting in the 70's around North Myrtle Beach in SC.

WE got some at Bethany Beach, DE also. Including shrapnel pieces of exploded bombs. The dredged them up a few years ago and there are still some to be had.
