Years ago when I lived in WV (born there, Roane Co) I heard some stories a old gentleman hiding jars of coins on a ridge in Calhoun County and a old peddler hiding gold in the Clay/Calhoun County area. (never recovered) Also, there was a newspaper article in the NY Times back in the 1800's about gold being found in Roane Co. (no kidding) Now I doubt that can be true but I always wonder where these stories come from....Can anybody expound on them????
