Selling an Excal that I just bought this past weekend from a fellow TH member. Great machine but that 8" coil is something that I thought I would get accostumed to, but just cant. Maybe its all in my mind, but it just isnt for me. Selling for same asking price $500. Here is the link for the original add, as I couldnt explain how thorough as he did: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,369113.0.html

I can send additional pics if interested, but here are a few along with the above link.

*maybe someone can help with how to shrink these blasted photos!!

Reduced to $500.

I do wish you good luck on the sale, it is way more then I would ever pay for the Sword model.

Re: WTS Excalibur (Original Sword Decal)

Didnt OldBeachNut post that he wanted to be next in line for this detector?

You should send him an email stating it is back on the market.

That sea search coil is heavy for dry sand hunting or dirt fishing but in the water it works great.

Some say the old ones are better ... some say the new ones are better.
I have had and used them all and dont think there is really much difference between them.
They are all good detectors and perfect for shallow fresh or salt water hunting.
One good gold item from the beach can pay for this detector.

$575 is not too much! It is a good deal!

Re: WTS Excalibur (Original Sword Decal)

OBN picked up another detector this past week. I had an Excal 1000 and can say that the 8" does cut through the wate SO much easier. I didnt notice a difference in operation, but I am still new to this hobby.

Not when you consider that many of the parts on the circuitboard for the Sword are no longer available which is why Minelab stated that they no longer guarantee the Sword can be repaired. If they do not have the part in stock they will not do a repair on it.

Re: WTS Excalibur (Original Sword Decal)

If I had not bought one a few months back,I would be all over this one. Great beach machine.

Treasure_Hunter ... this is the second post you have made knocking this detector.
He did not ask for your opinions about its value.
I think you might mean well but you should keep these kind of comments in the proper forums.
Perhaps the next thing you list for sale here someone will do you the same way.

I agree 100% Willie, the poster is trying to sell his unit not looking for opinions.

Perhaps not looking for NEGATIVE opinions. I think it's a good deal and I don't think he minds me saying so. If I had the $$ I would buy it.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." - First amendment!! Treasure_Hunter has every right to post what he wants, not everyone has to agree. While I personally think there are better forums suited to this deliberation, I do not want to derail the intent of my original post which was to simply sell the unit.

Thanks.

Re: WTS Excalibur (Original Sword Decal)

Gentlemen,

I stated it was my own personal opinion, and I wished him good luck in the sale. I merely stated a fact on potential problems with it being repaired, those problems may never arise. My opinion has nothing bad to say about the performance of the unit unit at all.

If I was looking for a detector and someone know there are potential problems with getting it repaired I would want to know about it.

With that said I will bow out of the thread......

Re: WTS Excalibur (Original Sword Decal)

This was my brothers detector. It is a great machine in excellent condition and had very little use. I still have one purchased at the same time which is mounted on an extended straight shaft that I modded with a newer 10" coil. They work as well as the newer machines (I have a couple of each version in different configurations...12x15SEF, WOT, etc.).

With regard to the Minelab support, the internal workings of this machine are nearly identical to the newest Excals. I have photographed the internal boards for every version I have owned to develop a wiring matrix for replacing (hard wire) the standard coil to WOT or SEF. The parts which cannot be replaced are the old battery pods (older square tab vice newer triangular tab), the old main housing and the coil. Minelab can update these parts with newer parts should they fail. A newer battery pod can be used with slight modification to the shaft mounting tab.

Hope this helps...
