Thanks for posting that as I was going to ask the same question. I also have two of those from a civil war site, although the hook is broken off of one and the handle is identical. Great work.

They look like the old hand forged one handed bale hooks, but smaller, so maybe they were use to lift a bale of hay / cotton?? with a 3 or 4 hitch point lift ? They for sure look more then a 150 years old.

Possibly from a kitchen for hanging pots or similar. Similar ones can be found if you google Hand forged hook from fireplace and kitchen. Def hand forged, they look cool.

Why don't you hang up in your kitchen that pot/kettle you found across the street after wifes flower season is over.

Well... they could have been used in a multitude of ways.
