"Wrap around" phenomenon

I was just in contact with Ty Brook via Email and he advised that the article he has been working on regarding the "wrap around" phenomenon will appear in his Tech Talk column in the upcoming July issue of Western & Eastern Treasures magazine. I talked about this in my earlier post in January of this year, a copy of which appears below.

Should be interesting, so wanted to give yall a heads up.

Re: "Wrap around" phenomenon

thanx for the heads up. We have some soil in certain parts of CA, that make silver dimes/quarters, buried for loonngg times, to read up at 95 on the Whites scale (Eagle, XLT, etc..). At first, a lot of guys hunting these type soils/parks would naturally have 95 tuned out, "lest they pickup hot rocks". But years ago, some guys discovered that by accepting hot-rock 95, they would get the deeper silver, that had been skewed up that high on the TID. It was explained to us that this phenomenom was because of the "wrap around effect". All the targets in the ground were actually going up a few #s on their TIDs (so for example, nickels buried a long time read in the 30s, rather than the 20s, and so forth). So when it came to silver dimes and quarters, their push up the ladder of TIDs threw them off the charts into the hot rock category. I dunno, I guess I'll just have to wait to read the article ::)
