My sister, Liz, just began to stamp collect, so my mom thought she would help her out by giving a box of stamps she inherited. The box was a shoe box and it was STUFFED with them. There were mostly from the 1907's, but there were a few much older. There was also other little treasures buried in the box. At the bottom of the box there was an envelope marked "foreign money", so i opened it and guess what was in there, foreign money. The money was mostly from Germany, the popular date was 1920. Would that be during WW1? In addition to the money(which I kept because mom saw it fair to give me a little something in the face of thousands of rare stamps) there was 3 medals. One was given for some band thingy in Ill., and the other two were medals of Ill. state fair. The last goody was a nice parabola magnifying glass.

I will post pictures as soon as I get my camera back along with the others.

Sorry if this isn't in the right category, but it was a really amazing find today.

Gold,

looking forward to the pics.

If you need an I.D. on the Illinois items, you may want
to check them out on e-bay.

have a good un.............

Coins are post WW1 (1914-18)

With your stamps to work out whats valuable and whats not go to your local library and get hold of a stamp catalog. Stanley Gibbons catalogs are some of the best. Stamps like coins were made in their millions so most are worth 5-10c (even from the 1880s). But amongst that hoard of stamps there's likely to be some rarer ones. Good hunting :D

Just be careful not to inspect those stamps TOO close with the magnifying glass, especially on a nice sunny day.... ;) ;) :D :D
