Got out to a favorite spot, for a little huntin before the appointment with Doc. I'm going to try to make this short,,,, I didnt find one coin or one token, I found 2 coins and they both broke my record. Previous oldest coin was 1877 (just found in the last couple of months ) first I found the 1865 3 cent piece ,which was my first 3 center, and it became my oldest coin,10 mins later I found the 1863 10 cenetism coin from Italy, which is now my oldest. The tokens have been hiding from me all year, but I caught up to them in a big way. 4 tokens in about an hour,,, 2 Denver exchange (saloon) tokens, from Cripple Creek,a numbered check token, that I dont know much about, except that it is also from Cripple Creek. A KELLYS good for 2 1/2 cents in trade,no info on it either, possibly unlisted. Also what I assume is a key tag for "Drews back door" ???? I do know there was a Drews Place (saloon) in Cripple Creek as I have found a token from there. also a spoon/fork handle advertising Calumet baking powder with an Indian Chief.also someone must have been practicing their ingraving skills on the sheet of brass I also found. Not to bad for a couple of hours,Ya gotta love huntin !!!!

Great stuff.........killer tokens.:icon_thumleft:

Would love to get the III piece....still on my bucket list!

I think the best find is the engraved sheet of brass. You will dig another III Cent piece before you dig another sheet of brass like that one! I love the one of a kind finds.

I crave a 3-center, but those tokens steal the show. Very good hunt!

That's some excellent finds! I especially like the Denver exchange tag piece. Nice pieces of history.

fantastic digs for sure! :icon_thumleft: and I'm glad my name isn't Drew, something about that tag just ain't right :laughing9:

Congrats on the firsts, and breaking records, a great day for you.

You gota get lucky once in awhile.

This post has it all: Saloon tokens (!), old coins....that's first rate. You don't see many 3 cent nickel coins dug. I imagine they ring up very low on a detector. They always appear less frequently than the 3 cent silvers, and I'm certain that's probably because folks discriminate them out--probably along with valuable buttons and relics. Congratulations to you on recovering a truly hard to dig coin. I've never dug one in 20 years, although I've dug a Silver Dollar, and lots of other nice finds.

Cheers,

Buckles

Thanks for all the replies everyone !!!!! IT WAS A FUN MORNING !!
