Hi all members , hope you are all ok...
I was swinging through a full grown maize field the other day...not easy as the rows stop you doing it the way you are used to.. I was picking up enfield percussion caps and rebel musket balls along with .577 fired enfield bullets ..so I knew I was at a battle site of the land wars around the mid 1800s....struck quite a few good fired relics and a royal engineers cuff button..and...then .. ...ping ...a signal a bit different..six inches down this lil beauty was ...I knew she was of the period I was searching for as the crust and patina wouldnt let me read anything until I..yuk..spat on it and rubbed it...oh great!!! a 57th (the old die hards) regiment that featured in most of our major battles..on research the 57th arrived in 1861 and left around the 1867..so one of them left me a neat relic to remember them by...thanks for reading and take care ..ok
