That would be a unusual cut for a andalusite stone of that size. It almost certainly would have taken a cut that would have protected its value... square/rectangular, oval, circular (in order of commonness). Any other cut really degrades its light shifting and color changing characteristics. Its not unheard of for it to be cut in other shapes, but its not a good sign.

Easy test that helps (but doesn't guarantee), stone should change colors depending on angle of viewing, especially around the edges of the facets, should be a true color change, not a lightning or darkening of the existing hue. View from side or off angle, if it shifts to a greenish more or less shade, a real good indicator.

I tried blowing it up to see, but couldn't tell, any surface scratches or with a low magnification glass can you see any wear marks where it is set? Is it an open or closed setting on the back?

My first guess would be colored zircon or maybe even glass costume, if it shifts color... then might be worth a 100 to find out hehe.

Hm, I thought the cut was decided by how to best get the biggest clear stone of a raw piece,
depending on inclusions etc. ... but if you say so? :-\

But it's not glass anyway, they don't set glass in 18K, not here anyway but as you say, it could be a synthetic.

How ever the pendant looks of an old model, perhaps antique, too bad I can't see the hallmarks.
I also don't have any other pictures than this one.

I will buy it if I can afford it, I'm a little tight this month, but I'll try ...?

And of course you get the whole pendant for the $100 and that includes the gold also,
it weights 7,5 grams of 18K. So the gem it self doesn't cost much ...? :D

I did buy it so I take more pictures when I get it.
It will take some week or so before I get it in my hand so to say ;D

Ok, I got it home today and I still think it looks very genuine !

And it tends to get a little bit green, specially in the tip of the stone where it's thinner than in the middle and specially when you look at the backside.
It's hard to show the right color, it's has more orange sparkles than you see in the picture and also not quite as dark.

Any inputs ?
