Would the step up to AT Pro be worth it?

Hey guys I’ve been away from detecting for a few years. I currently have a BH Titanium which I like but I want to upgrade to something in the $500-$600 range. A few years ago the AT Pro seemed to be what everyone had and really liked. Is this still the case or is there better alternatives now? Also would it be worth it for me to step up to this from my current detector? Would I see much of a difference?... Thanks guys.

Equinox 600

i love my AT pro...

I would consider an upgrade to the Equinox 600, running multi freq is the way to go.

I would not, look at the Equinox 800, its not much more than the 600. Getting an AT Slow is just going to put you under other hunters still. If you really wanted to go AT then go AT Gold. But seriously the EQ 800 should do far better.

Just read on this site above in the link about the 800, compare that to the 600, then compare that to the Pro and the Gold. The 800 opens up far more ground for you from your current machine. We just got our daughter an 800 for Christmas, she started on her own AT Gold at 8 years old, moved up to a Tesero Cortez, and will now be using the 800 and I know she will go mad with the new terrain it opens her up to.

In your price range, the Equinox 600 is the one. If you can afford the 800, I'd do that.

I would recommend the Equinox 800 as well. When I bought mine back in July, all I wanted to know is if all the hype was true. Since then I have predominantly put it in the worst areas that I have been over for years with my ATPro, and every time out, I'm finding things that I missed. It has given new life to my permissions.

Need to get away from Garrett AT series in general. Far better machines for the same price available.

I would consider an upgrade to the Equinox 600, running multi freq is the way to go.

In addition to that Murphy, you would be able to go to a single Freq. if you for some reason you wanted to, they being 5, 10, or 15 on the 600, whereas the AT is single Freq. only at 15Khz. Nothing wrong with the AT, I own one myself, but for the price point, you do get more with the 600. ( I might add that the supplied wired headphones with the 600 are junk, but you can buy a set of really good wireless for around $30 or so), you can check that out on the sub-forum "Headphones" I believe.

Anfibio multi is 899. Waterproof, will be like having a waterproof deus.

I dunno about all that.

My vote is the 800 also if you can swing it money wise but the 600 isn't a bad upgrade either! The 800 has great tone adjustability along with the wireless making the 250 bucks more a no brainer.

I use my AT PRO and the Deus. Both have good features.

Anfibio can only be operated in one of the three frequencies at one time. The Equinox can be operated with all simultaneously working.

....so I would vote for Equinox because of this. It will handle salt water easily where the Anfibio will probably struggle more.

For the 500-600$ range, Equinox 600 or 800 (if you can squeeze some extra money). At pro is no competition more for these ones.

Mr. Murphy, You stated you wanted to "step up to " Well your choice is more like stepping Across to". Go with the suggestions of the Equinox series of detectors if you truly want to move in your choice of direction. Good luck in your adventure. Who knows maybe Santa is listening.

An Equinox 600 would be a good purchase at the top of your range, but also consider a used AT Pro. There seems to be a lot of these out there, some with multiple coils included. Both are great detectors. Good luck!

I am an AT PRO fan!
