Boy, did I screw up. Put a WOT on my old Excalibur 800 and went over a section of treasure coast beach I'd just detected a few days earlier. Nobody told me I needed a backhoe. I was detecting stuff I couldn't dig down to with a long handled shovel. No more sand scoop for me.

The WOT is kinda tempermental..if I touch the sand it changes tone. I use the automatic setting. Is there a better setting on threshold/discrimination? I'm sure the more I use it the more familiar I'll get with it, but damn..it's gonna work me to death.

I have been using a wot for couple years on my excals, turn your sensitivity down, no descrimination.... I rarely use auto, I adjust it till it is stable usually about 11to 2pm on the dial if you look at it like a clock...... I have one excal with a wot and another excal with the SEF 12'x15" butterfly coil on it, they are both deep....

Some people dont believe me, but you put a wot on an excal, it is going as deep as most PIs, but with iron descrimination.........:laughing7:
