If there was a banner award for the worst looking coins I would humbly submit this one.
I have no idea why it is so beat up, it looks like saltwater damage but it's not because it was found in the dirt in the SE. and even my mineralized garbage doesn't usually beat up coins this bad and I am just happy it still has a readable date.
I think it was dropped on the ground this way.
Ya know what...still beautiful to me, still worth more than a clad dime at melt and still a great find.
Found in the extreme trash in front of a 93 year old school, a site that had to be hit by every hunter worth his salt in the city for over 50 years so a great victory just for that fact.
The F70 and sniper coil found it even though it was down averaged because of some other large trash in the vicinity and pretended to be some large can slaw but it sounded good and it was solid enough so I had to dig it.
Very few high tones here at all, this place had to be cherry picked to the max over the years but that is fine with me.
All the low conductors are still in play and if this one was missed by everyone for so long there might be more.
"Hunted to death"...love that description and it is just that kind of site that challenges me to try...and I love a challenge.
When it works out well so much the better.
A hard fought fight but a victory never the less...that is what this hobby is all about anyway, isn't it?
