One of the best finds we have dug from the ground , a 1916 French coin turned into a ring from the First World War , maybe trench art from some research we did .. We found this in the Dundee part of Omaha on underwood street at 445 am .. We stopped just so my wife could play poke mon , so I decided to do the side of the road.. Lucky!!

Unfortunately they still make these today. I brought a 1932 Shilling made into one of these recently. So dating it to WWI would be near impossible.

PS. There is still a chance your correct.

Congrats on that ring, :occasion14: I think I'll have to load that game on my phone so when I get to a site, I know where to hunt. Just look for a poke-man or other creature and that's where the treasure is. May put the dowsers out of business. :dontknow:

Sweet ring I would be very happy with it. Thanks for sharing

We did some research and found another ring with the same coin and they took that ring to people and that's what they said, no one really knows .. Could be, who knows .. Seems really old and was really deep in the ground ..

I made a few out of silver dimes just to see how it would come out. Nice find.

Wow, what a great find!

Back in the 1960's, a WWI Vet who was friend of my Dad's showed me a ring he made in France at his artillery battery from a French 2-Franc silver coin. . . it looked very similar to the one you found.
He told me he used an inert 75mm artillery shell that he had stuck in the ground as an anvil to pound the rim of the coin until it was flattened, and then filed out the inside.

A year or two later after a distant relative passed away (also a WWI Vet) my Grandmother gave me a 2-Franc coin that he had given her after the Great War. This might be a close match (except for the date) to the coin ring you found.
