Here are some relics from WW1 era army camps. I was wondering if anybody recognizes any of the metal stuff. The large thing is a part of a pair of army binoculars I think, and the piece at the bottom is a chunk of led found at an old army firing range from the 1910s. The little porcelain dog and clay marble I just threw in so everyone could see. I find a lot of broken figurines like this, but I never take them home or anything. This is the first whole one I found, and it says "24" with "Germany" underneath on the backside. The little thing with an anchor is a lid, I think to a tube of toothpaste or something. If you need me to upload some more photos of anything, please let me know. Thanks

The octagonal thing that is button-like is actually the cap to an old tube of Colgate.

I thought so, thank you. Do you have any idea on when it was made?

The binoculars are the right era..... I don't know if they are military issue or private purchase though, and private purchase doesn't rule out military use anyway. I would be pretty neat if the other parts are there somewhere for you to find.

Thats great. I had no idea it could be that old. Ive found another one or two over the years. I always thought it was mid-century. But knowing it could be that old, it could have definitely came from the soldiers.

I might be able to find some more pieces of it, the next time Im out that way. Its 102 degrees out nowadays, so it probably wont be until next fall or so, when I get back there with a metal detector, or maybe even in the monsoon after some rain.

They did use these caps for quite a while, and a few here have been dug mixed with stuff from the 20's and 30's, so I'd go on the other items found as the estimate. Certainly could be from the soldiers there.
