Eh guys not too exciting but found this button at my job site and I'm just trying to figure out the age if possible. It measures an inch across and I believe its pewter. Sorry not much to go on I know. Just trying to decided if it's worth really hitting hard. Thanks in advance

I Believe Its Tombac Metal. Not Pewter. Probably Dates To The Late 1700S. Very Nice Button!

Oh that'd be great. I figured it had the potential to be a very old area where it's in a bay with close access to the ocean. Thank you for the info. Much appreciated. How can you tell if its Tombac? It's very light weight

Lathe turned back. Pewters were cast, and you'd see a casting line on the back. Your not likely to ever find a pewter in the dirt to be that clean / shinny.

Dig more holes.

Sure appears to be. Of coarse many from the era are copper or brass. The lack of oxidation and the color sure make it appear to be Tombac. Congrats on a great Colonial era find.

Ok I'm gonna hammer that place. So many sites, so little time :-)

definitely tombac - definitely keep on that spot

If Theres 1700S Buttons... Theres Bound To Be 1700S Coins. Hit That Place Hard And Keep Us Posted. Good Luck!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help. Hopefully I have something interesting to show soon
