I got this "treasure" years ago from someone who claimed it was an original watercolor painting and was used as a prop in one of Woody Allen's films.

I have looked it over under magnification and can't see any printing dot pattern. It does appear to be a real watercolor piece.

I was told then it was done by an illustrator Woody hired.

They just tacked it up in the background and after filming it was taken down and stored with piles of other props.

Anyway, I'd appreciate anything you can find on this painter.

test it.
step 1-hold the picture in your left hand,
step 2-hold a picture of woody allens adopted doughter in your right hand,
step 3- is your left hand pulling very hard trying to get to your right hand?

What I'm looking for is any info on the artist.

I know this is way out of our normal thing here but I figured there might just be an outside chance somebody here was up on these things.

At any rate it'll most likely be donated to charity anyway.

seriously, try e-mailing a couple pics to an auction house that deals in art
or movie memorabilia,. if its authentic they will be all over it.
you dont have to sell it, but their interest will reflect the value.

I think I was told at the time but that was a lot of years ago.

At one time I had a pretty big collection of these types of things. Today it's nearly impossible to get genuine props.

Did you ever see Stephen King's The Dark Side? I once owned the house that those birds flew out of at the end of the movie. That house was about 2' square lol! I got it from the studio that did the special affects.

Thanks everyone.

Right. I knew this one was a real long shot but I was hoping it might just ring a bell to someone.

I've had this thing in a holder in the corner of my office for maybe 16 years? lol! It was behind some furniture and until I moved a piece I had forgotten about it.

I got it mostly because I used to collect anything nautical. Most of my stuff in now in museums.

I paid a good price for this thing but lost all the paperwork.

Oh well, maybe I'll try sometime to email some pictures to one of the big auction houses. I think some will give a free thumbs up or down appraisal.

Thanks a lot to all of you!

So this painting was actually painted at the time of the filming especially for this flic? Do you remember anything about the movie?

Crop the signature and send it to the major autograph dealers and
ask them who it is. Once they tell you look it up for other watercolors
sold. Could be that it is in the autograph catalog in your local library too.

What film? Perhaps the props people or set decorators would still remember.

You could always start watching Woody Allen movies until you see it.
