We got out Saturday for a while, but didn't find anything notable. Today, I wasn't going to go, but (surprise) my daughter and her boyfriend wanted to go so we headed to what we are referring to as "the woods". We hunted around and found zincolns, bits and pieces and copious quantities of shells.

We ran into a few people this time out. Three girls riding horseback were (...not very nice)...probably because they had to dismount when they heard the car coming. A guy who had parked his truck by the road and ridden his monster quad into the area came over and yakked for a bit. Looks like everyone considers this area "multi-use".

We decided to hunt a little longer and head in the opposite direction towards a relatively very high traffic area. Within a few minutes the V3i gave a penny/dime signal in the middle of the "road" that had some depth to it. Out came a wheat; the first older coin from the area for us. I scanned the hole and got another tone with some low 80's numbers thrown in so I was hoping the signals were related to the first retrieval. Another wheat. Still another signal...only slightly higher than the first two. I flipped the dirt out and the merc was shining in the sun. My daughter and her boyfriend probably thought I was having a heart attack...it has been too long for a silver coin. Turns out they were within a two foot diameter of eachother.

We hunted a while longer to no avail, but I had fun and came home with a pleasant surprise. Most important, my daughter and boyfriend had a good time too, so they may want to go in the future.
