I must share this story with my fellow treasure hunters. When I bought my EXCAL II last February, 2 months after I purchased it I had an issue with the unit. Without going into details I could make it work, but the fact that a certain feature had failed on the unit made me upset considering what they cost. I had called Minelab numerous times on the issue and was told I would get a return call telling me the procedure to follow. I even called the dealer where I purchased it from, BTW is the big one in Florida but no help. This happened 11 times over the next 6 months and still no return call from Minelab . Then I saw Woodland Detectors 4-H post stating that they could get issues resolved with Minelab for it's customers. My first thought was (yea right) but I decided to call them anyway. I spoke to the owner Mike and he assured me he would make a call and I should expect to receive a call from Minelab in the very near future. You know what, Minelab called me the next day, less than 24 hrs after I spoke to Mike at Woodland Detectors. Presto changeo issue resolved. Totally blew me out of the water to get a positive response that soon. Since the call, Mike and I have spoken a few times on the phone just talking treasure talk. He is a very nice gentleman. In return he asked me a specific question on a custom digger, and If I could build him one per his specs. When he explained what he wanted special on the new digger, I replied and told him how to modify the one he has to bring it up to what he wanted me to build in my machine shop. The total cost for him should be less that $10-15 dollars and can be done locally where he lives. He seemed pleased which is a good thing. This is an example of 2 business men and treasure hunters living 10 hrs and 600 miles apart helping each other out. I feel as I have made a new friend and might take Mike up on an offer to go down there hunting with him sometime.
