A first for me, being asked to pay a fee to obtain coin. I stopped at a Woodforest in one of the local Wallyworlds to ask for $50 of nickels and $50 of dimes - and the first thing that the teller asked is "do you have an account with us?" I told him "no," but indicated that my wife did - whereupon he told me that it was bank policy to charge $5 for "business services."

I was dressed business casual, and purposely didn't ask for that much, so I don't see the point of charging like that. I told him - respectfully - that the bank's business was accepting and passing out money, and that with that kind of an attitude toward potential customers, I was no longer a potential customer. He had no response. Of course, I understand that he doesn't make policy, but I am really ticked at that bank. I had gone to another Woodforest late last week and had no problem under virtually the same circumstances.

Anyone else have a similar experience at Woodforest?

I do not have an account there but i have experienced this with many banks -- with who I have accounts. I have an account at US bank and some branches will order for me while others tell me there is a fee. Same goes with 2 other banks. I have learned just because one bank does not charge, another will.

It tells me that there is no set policy with banks and it is up to individual bank managers to set their policy. When I have said that other US Banks do not charge me, the response is basically- well, I can only tell you what our policy is.

I've had the same experience as MentalUnrest. I think in bigger cities they are more likely to charge a fee because they have to supply more coin. In the smaller towns I don't have a problem having coins ordered or getting them from the counting machine.

wells fargo pulled the same BS on me. i was getting boxes ordered and would just stop in and get boxes then one trip they said they have to start charging 7.50 per box and 15 cents per roll. Went to a different branch and there was no charge. I dont have an account with Wells fargo either. So each branch is different.

I don't have an account there and have bought coins from them without problems or fees.

I have an account with them.. and they offered to order me as many halves as I want and let me bring back much of them right too their branch! They have sold me all I wanted in handrolls with no fees even when I did not have an account with them. Woodforrest is the best bank I have dealt with.. you must just have a jerk you ar dealing with. I have an awesome relationship with each person in my branch.. explain to them what you do... they think it is kool and even save coins for me and call me when they get large amounts of coin from customers
