Wooden Stand/Easel/Press?

Was told it was a printing press but just no luck finding any additional information. Also it doesn’t look like a normal printing press. I thought perhaps a plein air easel but the back doesn’t seem like it would hold a canvas and the front comes out too much. It has some issues-loose hinge, chipped veneer-but if it’s useable to me or someone else (in whatever capacity!) I would like to restore it.

The metal hinges say “patent London”.

The feet are little wooden wheels.

It closes up to lay almost flat, so it’s a very portable piece.

interesting ! Maybe some sort of drafting table setup ?

I don't know how far it folds open but it reminds me of the luggage stands in a motel room.

Thanks guys, but the back piece comes up and has a little folding ledge. I’ll take more pictures

Something may have been lost in translation. Try searching "trouser press".

I think it's the remains of a gentleman's folding valet (missing a few parts). Early to mid 20th C.
