DAY 1
I went back to the K to 8 school. The high traffic and most likely spots are done and I am just cleaning up all the other part of the grounds hoping for a goodie or two. Not expecting much, but always hopeful that something nice will turn up. I spent 6 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 38 coins with a face value of $3.73, a wheatie, a fancy finger button from a brass musical instrument, an umbrella slide, some junky jewelry, an ace bandage clip, a copper bullet jacket, a cosmetic jar, a toy car, copper wire, lots of can slaw and whole aluminum cans, aluminum bottle caps,15 tabs and 9 pencil ends.

The wheatie is crusty. I rubbed at it to try and bring out the date. It may be 1917, but I can’t seem to get it clean enough to be sure.

The cosmetic jar is a WOODBURY jar probably from the 1960s. The 61 on the base may be the date.

DAY 2
I took my weekly trip to the middle school and spent 5.5 hours swingin the CZ21 and finished gridding a fairly large area. I found 58 coins with a face value of $2.71, part of an old aluminum ice cube tray divider, a decent pocket knife, a Japanese coin, half of a wire connector, a Pepsi game tab, a modern button, copper wire, some can slaw, foil, aluminum bottle caps, 24 tabs and 8 pencil ends.

The knife will be usable if I take the time to clean it, but I have so many I am trying to sell I’m not sure it is worth the effort. The Japanese coin is a 10 yen. Looking up the coin on line I see that the date translates to 1964. The date is under the 10. The game tab is the letter B and the 904 tells me it is a Pepsi game tab.

DAY 3
I went to a set of 2 ballfields in a small town 25 miles to the east. I’ve never detected these fields and was hoping to get lucky. It was drizzling and the ground was sloppy in spots which made it challenging at times. There were a few hot spots, but overall there were very few targets. Almost no iron signals at all so I think these fields did not have anything on them before the ballfields were made. I did find a lot of coins around the concession stands and by the bleachers. The fields themselves had a few coins and tabs and they were far apart.

I spent 5.5 hours with the CZ21 and found 135 coins with a face value of $13.13, a cheapie ring, the side panel of a toy car, a few aluminum bottle caps, some can slaw and 32 tabs. Better gas money for a change, but nothing special.

DAY 4
Another scout camp trip this week. I covered two sites with the CZ21 and found 81 coins with a face value of $6.12, 138 camp tent pegs, 4 rope tensioners, a dollar coin, several whole aluminum cans, some melted aluminum from the campfires and 8 tabs.

Coins and good finds are getting scarce at the camp since I have been detecting there for 13 years. The neckerchief slide made the day with a nice dollar coin as a bonus. Unfortunately in this part of camp tent pegs are plentiful. Cleaning them out of the ground is my scouting good turn for the day, but it is a lot of work getting them back to the quartermaster building.

NONE DETECTOR FINDS
I got a Canadian nickel, 2 dimes and 3 pennies in a coinstar machine and a dime and penny on the sidewalk. Another slow week, but they do add up.

I did get to enjoy some nice trees in bloom at the middle school.

Nothing great this week, but I’m still out there swingin and trying to score. (When you have been doing this almost 23 years, the hunts with only clad feel more like work sometimes). Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and may your coil lead you to good things.
