wanted to start out saying thanks to all that help on here. I have lurked on this thread for awhile. I`m a digger/diver of artifacts here in Fl and mainly post there and the fossils and rock section. I have always had a facination with coins and have collected since I was a kid. I have a bunch of $5 and a few $10 from the 50`s and 60`s, not that I think they are worth anything but I have always pull any older money out and put it aside. Reading these post here have driven me to empty all the kids piggy banks and going through my sons egg selling money with him teaching him what to look for in the future.

Heres what I have , I got this with my change a few years ago at a local restaraunt here in my town . I have kept it because for one it was a 1934 but the HAWAII stamped on it was cool. I know why they were after researching it but wondered about the value of these or this one?
any help or comments would be gratefull, thanks, Jeff

Nice Find !!! 8)

I can't tell you what it's worth :dontknow: as I am more of a coin collector.
But even though it is tattered and torn it's definitely a KEEPER!

Good job teaching the kids what to look for! It may pay off someday!

Red Book (retail) value of a Series A 1934 Hawaii $5 is $110 if it were in VF-20 condition. Though maybe not in VF-20 condition, it certainly is worth many times 'face'; a great find and conversational piece.

this money was marked "hawaii" for use during WW2 -- that way in case the hawaiian islands fell the money could not then be taken out of the islands and be used to buy off spies on the mainland or for other uses .

That is a very rare find to get in change. Definitely a keeper!

hawaii bills are always worth abover face, no matter what condition. Nice work!

Wow to get that baby as change would be fantastic. I have always liked the old fives, As a kid I used to save the ones without the motto as I thought they were special lol. But yeah, a Hawaii 5$ note in circulation is priceless imo.
