Hi all, I noticed a bit of slim small pieces of gold in my pan today. I got the dirt from inside bedrock, and I was not sure if it really was gold because I had so much of it. What is wire gold? How does it form? And why is it in the bedrock? Here's a pic of what I found.

It could be gold but the pieces all seem to be the same length and have some of the same "bends" in them. They might be the remains of a brass or wire brush someone used to clean up the bedrock.

Do a bend test on them. If they are stiff then they are going to be from a brush. If they bend really really easy then congrats.

My 2 cents worth.

Thanks going to test now, thing that scared me is I was using a brush to get the dirt out, worst part is, is it was wire.

I dont think its wire gold either, looks like brass.

And your story reminds me of this video:

nice, wish he had his own show

keep sampling til you find it.......

I have examined it further and feel that it really is brass from my brush I was using. I'm going to keep testing it to see if it is gold or brass. It will most likely turn up as brass, but you can never be so sure. They seem to bend very easily, although I'm still skeptical.

IT's too good to be true. Its wire, took scissors to a piece and took one swing and it snapped in half. It's all brass.

Thanks for all the help.

That's a tough break. Sorry about that.

I really hoped it would turn out to be gold for you.

All the best,

Lanny
