Don't know, It's got a Rim like a coin or Button.
& because of size, I think Button.

I'm thinking it's a button, but a button for furniture making. You know - the little decorative buttons on a sofa or chair. The wire back can be pushed through the material easily and wrapped/twisted to hold it in place.

Justa thought.

Can you tell whether the wire is soldered on or is it corroded on? Reason i say that is i found an old railroad uniform button that was held on by wire. it looked as it was a quick fix that didnt last too long. so maybe thats what that is.

it is hard to tell,
But I'm guessing Soldered.
It almost looks like it goes inside in the middle.
But it's not a 2 Piece.

I also wonder wether it was originnaly a Half Round Button
that was run over & Flattened.

The location it was found didn't produce anything.
not even even one
coin older then the Mid 20's
with the earliest Coins 1860's.
