Wingin' it with the newbies

Nick, John and I headed out to the park yesterday. After quite a photo session with a Daily Herald photog we were a couple clads richer for the effort. Skates got a nice pocket spill in front of the Photog and we chatted it up a bit.

Fortunately, after he left I pulled a good signal under a tree root on a slope and popped a 1901 Barber dime out. Wouldn't want to give the general public any notion that there was still oldies left in there...

Also got a 43 P war nickel in silt wash about 4" down on another slope.

We're on P. 4 of the Fox Valley edition of the Herald if you manage to get a copy!

Silver in your pouch Tim, WTG. Out hunting with the new guys sounds like you had some fun.
Did you manage to hide some what from the camera? DFW

Re: Wingin' it with the newbies

nice dime Tim. Got a link to that article? I don't get that paper over here.

Re: Wingin' it with the newbies

Thanks for the hunt! Wish I didn't have to leave for work. I think that 11DD coils was just to busy. I had better luck with the the 10. I just bought a 5DD that I hope to have by the weekend. I am also looking into a Garrett pinpointer pro. My fisher will sound at about 2 inches, but I like the progressive tone of the Garrett.

I can't find the news clip. Went to two stores. Oh well!

Thanks again for including me!

Nick

Hey Batts - how deep was that barber? Its hard to tell from the picture.

Re: Wingin' it with the newbies

Hey Jason, the dime was about 4+ inches, fairly flat but the root and tree did not give much room for a swing except the old angled wiggle.

The article should be in a paper here in town, not sure about the rest of the 'burbs.

The dime in the photo is one of John's pocket spill finds. Nice spill pile and even popped a couple nails out with it!

Haha nice article. Glad you told them the switchblade story. People might appreciate us more if we help keep the parks safe!

John Dough! :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

WTG on the two silvers, Tim!!!

I love that dirt shot of the dime!

When I see the press coming, I run the other way, no matter what I'm doing (bad experience once).

Great picture of that Barber still in the hole! Maybe the press will get you some phone calls to find some items!
