Here is the last post from the op of the thread that nhbenz linked to; it appears to be the same button:

"This item was tentatively identified by Heritage Auctions as being a brass curtain tie-back with a raised bust of "Jefferson" facing left and was likely issued during Jefferson's term of office as President. It originally had a post in the center of the back. It's value in the condition found is roughly $300.00. Better variations have sold for over $ 500.00 according to the appraiser, who said, "This item shows up occasionally and is not overly valuable. With the noted defect, I would estimate your example around $300. It would not be auction-worthy from our perspective.""
